Frequently asked questions

What PDF features does WPsigner support?

PDF upload, multi-page processing, drag-and-drop field placement, X.509 certificate embedding, flattening, watermarking and automatic Certificate of Completion. The signed PDF includes signatures, form data and an audit trail.

What is PDF flattening?

Flattening converts interactive form fields into static content permanently embedded in the PDF. That prevents anyone from modifying signed fields after completion — making the document tamper-proof.

Can I embed digital certificates in PDFs?

Yes. WPsigner can embed X.509 certificates compatible with Adobe's Approved Trust List (AATL), so signatures verify in Adobe Acrobat Reader without extra software.

What is a Certificate of Completion?

An automatically generated PDF page appended to every signed document. It contains the audit trail — signer names, emails, IPs, timestamps and the document SHA-256 hash — as a permanent record of the signing process.

Can I watermark documents?

Yes. Add custom watermarks such as DRAFT or CONFIDENTIAL to documents as needed.

Where are signed PDFs stored?

On your WordPress server with WPsigner — downloadable by parties and retained under your hosting and retention policies.
